The WDW Approach

Women Driving Women Driver NoraWe frequently hear in the news about unsafe incidents with Uber or Lyft drivers.

We believe that women, children, and seniors should have a safe transportation alternative.

That's why we created Women Driving Women!

Women Driving Women is a transportation connection membership service connecting riders with local drivers wishing to offer transportation assistance to women, children and seniors. It is a safe alternative to Uber or Lyft. All WDW prospective members must pass a background check to be connected. No computer or smartphone is required for riders!

Some of the things we do to keep you safe:

  • All driver members are vetted before being approved.
  • All rider members are connected with a permanent driver member so you'll know the driver picking you up.
  • For our child members, the child and parents have the option of meeting the driver in advance of the first ride.
  • A parent must coordinate all rides with their driver for their children, so you'll always know when and where your child is being driven.

The WDW Story

Renee Cooper started Women Driving Women after her experience driving for Uber and Lyft. Renee soon became aware that she felt more at ease driving for female passengers. And when she drove for women, they often said they were relieved to see a woman driver. Ding, ding! Renee quickly realized that having females on both sides of the rideshare experience made them feel safer.  Now... how can we do it legally, Dad?

Please note that Women Driving Women can only approve a new rider member's application if there is already a driver member available in the rider's zip code. Women Driving Women cannot guarantee there will be a driver available to meet a rider applicant's transportation need. Once a membership is approved and a rider-driver connection is made, all WDW member riders must work directly with their personal member-driver.
