Women Driving Women Driver NoraWe frequently hear in the news about unsafe incidents with Uber or Lyft drivers.

We believe that women, children, and seniors should have a safe transportation alternative.

That's why we created Women Driving Women!

Women Driving Women is a transportation connection membership service connecting Riders with local permanent Drivers wishing to offer private Driver transportation assistance to women, children, and seniors. It is a safe alternative to Uber or Lyft, although Women Driving Women is not an "on-demand" at any time ride-service. Riders and Drivers must become WDW approved members and pass a background check to be connected. No computer or smartphone is required for Riders!

Some of the things WDW does to keep you safe:

  • All members are vetted before being approved.
  • All Rider members are connected with a permanent Driver member for regular rides, so you personally know the Driver picking you up.
  • For Child members, the child and parents have the option to meet and approve their Driver in advance of the first ride. Parents make all of the arrangements with their child's connected Driver, so they always know when and where their child is being driven.
  • All rides are coordinated by the Rider with the Rider's permanent Driver.

Women Driving Women About Page Divider

Renee Cooper shared her idea for a female-focused driver and rider membership connection service with her father after her experiences as a Driver for Uber and Lyft. Renee felt more at ease being a Driver for female passengers and when she drove for women, they often said they were relieved to get a female Driver. Renee quickly realized that connecting females on both sides of the rideshare experience made everyone feel safer. She also felt that Drivers should be the permanent, regular Driver for their Riders. No Strangers! Her dad thought this was a brilliant idea and thus Women Driving Women Rider-Driver connections were born!

Here are a few of the team members at Women Driving Women.

Richard Cooper

Chief Problem Solver

Under Richard's leadership, Women Driving Women has blossomed into a beloved Driver-Rider membership connection service. Richard is a retired trial court attorney with over 50 years of experience practicing law in California. He listened to Renee's thoughts about the need for female-focused Driver-Rider connection services--so much so--that he decided to launch Women Driving Women, Inc. WDW is the second business Richard has created from one of Renee's ideas. When he's not chatting with his dog, Richard also oversees a non-profit located in San Diego County to help abused women, children, and animals.

Renee Cooper

Chief Creator of Opportunities

Renee oversees Women Driving Women operations, as well as marketing and member support. Renee was born and raised in Santa Rosa, California. She received her B.A. from The University of California in Irvine and her M.B.A from the University of Chicago with a specialty in Marketing and Human Resources. When she's not running around taking care of everyone, she enjoys spending time with animals.

Please note that Women Driving Women can only approve a new Rider member's application if there is already a Driver member available in the Rider's zip code for a connection. Women Driving Women cannot guarantee there will be a Driver available to meet a Rider applicant's transportation needs. Once a membership is approved and a Rider-Driver connection is made, all WDW member Riders must work directly with their personal member-Driver.
